In 2000, the media published a photo of Tuvia Grossman, a Jewish student from Chicago -- bloodied and battered -- crouching beneath a club-wielding Israeli policeman. The caption identified him as a Palestinian victim of Israeli brutality -- with the clear implication that the Israeli soldier was the one who beat him. In fact, the policeman saved his life.

Now, ten years on, HonestReporting has reunited Tuvia and his rescuer for the first time since those terrible events. Watch the video to witness their dramatic reunion.

В ответ на разбор полёта, раскрывший фальшивку, АФП выступило с опровержением.
Вкратце:
Иерусалимское отделение АФП опросило:

1. своих сотрудников
2. других журналистов, присутствовавших на месте "происшествия"
3. видео, снятое на месте
4. самого пострадавшего
5. врачей, осматривавших его в больнице

и привело перевод на англйский медицинского заключения, выданного в больнице.

Photo of IDF Soldier Stepping on Girl Proven False

A photo of an IDF soldier purportedly stepping on a Palestinian girl in an act of brutality was recently debunked, after having been proven to be captured in Bahrain in December 2009.

The photo was identified as staged due to several fallacies, such as the use of an AK-47 rifle, which the IDF doesn’t use, as well as inconsistencies with the imposter’s uniform, and with operational reports from the field.

The IDF regrets the cynical use of children in acts meant to demonize IDF soldiers, and emphasizes that such behaviour is completely at odds with the IDF Code of Conduct.

Как пишет блоггер Омар Дакхан, это вообще не солдат и тем более не израильский. Это актёр, а снимок сделан в Бахрейне во время уличного театрального представления.
